Condolence Messages

#1 Patricia Corbitt Gandia 2011-12-31 05:20 I am in great sorrow that I, nor my immediate family had not had the chance to meet Dan. Upon learning about our family background, I wished I had the chance to meet him. Quote

#2 Smith Family 2012-01-02 00:04 To the Family, We are always saddened by the passing of our dear loved one. The time we have with them is never enough. Please keep in your hearts and minds the wonderful joy and happiness they brought to your lives. Even though it is hard for us to imagine the void in our lives be assured of this period as resting time for them. Hope is given to us through the scriptures that this enemy called "Death" will soon be done away with. (1 Cor. 15:26) Not only will death be no more, neither will sickness, pain and sorrow be anymore. (Rev. 21:3-4) God has said "He is making all things new". My prayers are with you all.

#3 Norman Family 2012-01-02 11:02 Dear Davenport family,

Although death is our enemy [1 Cor. 15:26]
we can find comfort that there will be a resurrection from death's deep sleep on resurrection morning,
or during Christ's millennial-long day of reigning over earth, when the dead will will awaken from death's sleep with the prospect of everlasting life in view when there will be no more tears, crying, nor outcry from pain because death will be swallowed up forever.

- John 11:11-14; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 25:8; Rev. 21:4,5

I read the below poem in a nursing home newsletter
I found it of comfort so I want to share that with you.
-By Dorothy M. Cahoon:

Rejoice, rejoice all ye who reap
For loss of loved ones dear,
What we call death, is but a sleep
In the winter of the year;
And just as surely as the spring
Brings life to tree and flower,
So those who sleep in death will know
The Resurrection's Power

May our Heavenly Father take the sorrow that you feel and gently uplift and comfort you.

#4 tony podrasky 2012-01-02 12:12 Dear Davenport family;

I am a friend of Sister Susan Norman and she keeps me informed about the goings-on in her congregation.

I'm sorry to hear that we've lost another dear brother "for just a little while more".

We had a memorial at our Kingdom Hall (Rock Springs, Escondido (San Diego) California) last Saturday. I was on the cleaning committee to spruce it up (humm - maybe I shouldn't use the word "spruce" this time of year… :-) anyway, we have a new young man who is progressing well in the truth. He's always got a big smile on his face and is full of zeal.

I asked him if he's ever been to one of our memorials. He said he hadn't. He asked what it was like and I explained that we know the truth of what "death really is" and although there is some sadness because we won't see that person until the new world, we know we'll see him then - so it's more like a long good-bye.

agape, Davenport family,
Br. Tony Podrasky

Then I passed this along to him;

Steve - do you know why, when someone dies, we hurt so much? Well - when Jehovah God made Adam and Eve, he gave them the knowledge for what they needed: when your stomach hurts, it means it's hungry. You don't panic or go crazy. When you do a little too much work, your muscles ache a bit. Again, you don't get excited - you know why. If you bump your head, it smarts - but in a little while the pain will go away. When your body needs rest, you fall asleep. You don't get scared when the sleepy feeling comes over you, you just go to sleep.

BUT - God never put it into us to understand death because we were never supposed to experience death. And that is why, even though death is completely normal (in this system of things), and everyone who ever lived, eventually died, and we KNOW that is going to happen, we still fall apart when it does.

And, one day soon, God is going to put death "to death" (Rev 21:1-5)

#6 Gloria Ramsey 2012-01-03 01:24 Dear Davenport Family,
I met Dan about a year ago as he was attending the Coventry Congregation in Pottstown. Enjoyed talking to him (with his deep voice) and am saddened that he has fallen asleep in death. What a wonderful hope the Bible gives us in the resurrection. So sorry about your loss and in a little while Dan will rise again.

Agape,
Gloria Ramsey

#7 Bonnie Dungan 2012-01-03 02:04 I met Dan at the Pottstown congregation. He was fun to talk to. I am sorry to hear he had fallen asleep in death. At Revelation 21:4 God promises death will be no more and mourning will be no more. Jehovah God can "wake up" Dan in the near future. {Acts 24:15} Quote

#8 Maggie Schwartz 2012-01-03 02:18 Dear Davenport Family,
We are very sad to hear of your loss. We enjoyed having Dan associated with our congregation, and appreciated his comments. He would often read a scripture during Bible discussions. We are so thankful for the Bible's hope of a resurrection (John 5:28, 29).

#9 Cindy and Bob Smith 2012-01-03 06:41 Dear Davenport Family,

We are so sorry for this loss to your family. Dan seemed to us to be a kind and gentle man. We find comfort in the faithful man Job's hope in a future resurrection at Job 14:14. Perhaps these thoughts may bring you some comfort too.

Bob and Cindy Smith
