Acie Hurt was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence meant so much to so many. He passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on April 30, 1942, in Milledgeville, Georgia, Acie lived a life rooted in hard work, love for family, and kindness toward others.
Acie was a gifted mechanic and the proud owner of Hurt’s Garage. He took pride in his work and was always willing to lend a hand, whether it was fixing a car or helping someone who needed it. When he was not in the garage, Acie enjoyed working on property, trying his luck at gambling now and then, and spending time at home. One of his greatest joys was sitting on his porch, keeping an eye on his grandchildren as they played; a simple pleasure that meant everything to him.
Family was at the heart of Acie’s life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sondra Hurt; his children, Shelton, Carl, Tessa-Mae, Molly, and Monica; his stepchildren, Autumn Pyle, Victoria Patterson, and Victor Patterson Jr.; and his special bonus daughter, Maria (Brad) English. He is also survived by his siblings, Bennie Jones, Gainel Banks, Helen Roberts (John), Hazel Dennis, and Alfreda Dennis, all of whom will carry his memory with love.
Acie was a proud grandfather, and his love lives on through his grandchildren: Gary, Glenn, Victor III, Anyzha, Ge’Mari, A’Nyla, Christiana, De-Moni, and Taylor. He shared laughter, wisdom, and warmth with each of them, leaving behind lessons they will carry for a lifetime.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Hurt and Lizzie Cartwright Hurt; his brothers, Willie, Frank, Rogers, Otis, Earnest, T.J., Alvin, Melvin, and Lenon Hurt Sr.; his sisters, Annie Hurt and Cora Adams; and his beloved daughter, Renae Hurt.
Acie’s life will be celebrated on January 3, 2026, as family and friends gather to remember the man who gave so much of himself to those he loved. He will be remembered for his big heart, his presence, and the love he shared so freely.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
