Amanda Tussie Makor, a radiant and beloved daughter, sister, and friend, departed this life on March 30, 2026, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, at the age of 24. Though her time here was brief, she lived with a fullness, a fire, and a faith that most people spend a lifetime chasing.
Born on January 14, 2002, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to her devoted mother, Grace Makor, Amanda grew up rooted in love, culture, and purpose. As a proud daughter of Liberian heritage, she carried her family’s story with elegance and honor. With poise beyond her years, she was the family’s voice.
Amanda was a proud honors graduate of Susquehanna Township High School, where she was actively involved in Gospel Choir, African History Club, participated in both the Winter and Spring Chorus where she was recognized as the 2019–2020 Most Contributing Senior Vocalist.
She continued her academic journey at Penn State University, Harrisburg Campus, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing specializing in analytics training with a minor in Biology, graduating with honors once more. She worked as a licensed nursing assistant and home health aide, caring for the elderly until recently starting her career in marketing at Lowe’s. She was not simply chasing a degree; she was building a life with intention.
Amanda’s greatest education happened not in classrooms, but in the quiet, sacred spaces of devotion. At Greater Zion, she was a faithful servant of the youth ministry, singing in the Youth Choir, serving as a Junior Usher, and participating in the Bell Ministry. Her love for God was evident in both her service and the way she lived her life. It was the foundation of everything she did.
Amanda demonstrated a heart of compassion and responsibility by lovingly caring for her grandmother, Martha Makor, offering her time and tenderness until her grandmother took her final rest in 2024. That was simply who Amanda was, a giver. She was also a fashionista with a heart far more beautiful than any outfit she wore. She was a traveler with a spirit too wide for any single place.
Twenty-four years was not enough time for a world that needed her and yet, she managed to pour more love, more service, more excellence, and more grace into those years than many do in a lifetime.
Amanda was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Martha Makor; her auntie, Darlene Makor; and her uncles, Meiyen Makor, Gonkartee Dekpah, and Mohandas Dekpah.
She is survived by her loving mother, Grace Makor; her sister, Adama Makor; Brother, James Wonyen; niece, Naomi Azangueu; nephew, Gregory Nix III, Aunties, Carol Stevenson, Mai Rivers, Sarah Cursoe, Mabel Quist, Nensah McCage, Martha Gboo; Great Aunt Bonyeah Zoe; Uncles, Steve Makor, Bob Makor, Moses Makor, Enoch Makor; Great uncle Peter Kpah; Grandfather Peter Makor, and a cherished host of cousins, relatives, and friends who will carry her memory forward with pride.
