Arthur “Art” Lee Rivers Jr. was born in Harrisburg, PA on November 29,1970 to Rev. Arthur L. Rivers Sr. and Lula Rivers. Surrounded by his loving wife and family, he transitioned to his heavenly home on May 27, 2025.
Art graduated from John Harris High School in 1989. And soon after he joined the Army in July 1989 where he served his country for eight years. He served in a range of locations including Desert Storm in Southwest Asia and Panama Canal. During Art’s military career he received the following medals: Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal w/3 stars, Kawait Liberation Medal, Marksman Badge (M16 Rifle), and Sharpshooter Badge (Hand Grenade).

Art enjoyed being with his loving wife, family and friends. Weekends were his favorite time to either take the family on various road trips or enjoy eating crab legs at home. Art loved traveling with his loving wife and kids – Virginia Beach was an annual vacation spot. Whenever possible he traveled to South Carolina to visit his parents and extended family. Art enjoyed fishing, grilling and he loved the Raiders. Go Raiders! Art will always be remembered for his smile and contagious laughter. Whenever family came together, no matter the occasion, there was a hug when they greeted each other and a hug when they departed. Art was a quiet unassuming man that was a great husband, dad, brother, son, uncle, cousin, nephew and brother-n-law. While we will miss him dearly, we know that he is safely in the loving arms of Jesus.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 25 years, Ona “Nett” Rivers, children LaShia Pate (daughter), Jeremy Rivers (son), Lula Rivers (mother) and Rev. Arthur L.
