Obituary

Carlene Ann Myers, loving known as “Sister” passed peacefully on Thursday, April 18, 2019.  The daughter of the late Doreathea Myers, who passed recently on January 17, 2019. Carlene was born in in Beaufort, South Carolina, but raised in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. After graduation from William Penn High School she moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where she attended the University of Alaska Anchorage. After 10 years in Alaska, Carlene returned to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and worked 19 years for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation until she was diagnosed with Stage IV Cancer.

 

Carlene was an avid reader, and loved to converse with anyone, especially about her travels from Alaska to Hawaii or to wherever a bus trip would take her. She loved fellowship with her church family at New Day Way of Christ Church. She always made lasting friendships throughout her travels and will always be remembered for her love of a good food, which she always critiqued although she didn’t cook. Carlene will also be remembered for her magnificent memory and the love of her dear cat “Cathie-Marie.”

 

Carlene is preceded in death by her mother, Doreathea Myers and her twin brother, Carl Myers. She leaves to celebrate her life and memory her siblings Terry Gaines and brother-in-law, Larry Gaines of Anchorage Alaska, her sister Jacqueline Myers of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a niece and nephew, Ashleigh and Bradford Gaines of Anchorage Alaska, and extended family and friends.
