Cassandra Marie Scales, 65, of Harrisburg, transitioned on July 27, 2023. Born on October 8, 1957, in Brooklyn, New York, she became a beloved resident of Harrisburg in 1980 and made it her home. Cassandra found great joy and fulfillment in her career as a Clerk III at PennDOT at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Cassandra leaves behind cherished memories that will be held dear by her son, Corey Devaughn Scales, grandchildren; Gianna, Corey, Lorianna, Alanna, Jabari, Emir and Emiyah, siblings, Wilford, Royne, Toni, Stefany, Honi and Lauren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. She will be deeply missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
Cassandra was known for her strength, wit, and artistic spirit. She had a giving and caring nature, sometimes masked by her tough exterior, but above all, she was a source of immense love for those close to her. While she may have been hesitant to openly embrace affection, she never held back in expressing it.
Mother – grandmother, a supportive sister, and a dear friend to many. Cassandra approached life with unwavering determination, resilience and strength. Without a doubt, she was a true soldier.
The essence of Cassandra can be found in the vivid memories she created - the radiant presence of a sunflower, the elegance of a dancer's movements, and the creativity that flowed through everything she touched. She possessed an exquisite taste for fine food and was always a connoisseur of life's joys. Furthermore, she had an innate ability to care for others, and her nurturing spirit touched the hearts of many.
Though Cassandra faced her own battles, she stood up strong in the face of adversity. Through many tears she held up the stained banner high until her very last moments. Her unwavering bravery and commitment to her convictions were undeniable.
