Christine Wright was born in Newton, Georgia, to Roosevelt Wright Sr. and Laura Huntley Wright. She was one of eight siblings and the last surviving among them. She was preceded in death by her daughter Stephanie Annette Wright and grandson Thorin Maurice Burgess Jr,. She will be dearly missed by her beloved daughter, Donna Lee Wright, A niece, Sophorina Wright, and eight grandchildren-Whitney Wright, Shaneka Wright, Darrien Burgess, Brandon Wright, Tianna Wright, Toni Arant, Kemian Wright.
Christine was a woman of conviction and courage. During the 1960s, she marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Washington, D.C., standing up for justice and equality-a testament to her lifelong commitment to doing what was right and standing up for others.
At the age of 16, she moved to New York City, where she worked as a nanny. It was there she met her future husband, George Wright Sr., who worked for the New York Sanitation Department. The two were married and shared 56 years of love and devotion. Their union was blessed with two daughters: Stephanie Wright and Donna Lee Wright.
Christine later settled in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where she made her home for over 55 years. She worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield for more than 25 years and retired when the company transitioned to Highmark. A faithful member of Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church, she found strength in her faith and her community.
Christine was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life-especially gardening, growing watermelon, and spending time with her great-grandchildren, whom she adored.
A God-fearing, nurturing, and wise woman, Christine was the heart of her family. Her home was always open, her words full of wisdom, and her presence a source of love and stability. Her life was a living testament to grace, strength, compassion, and enduring faith.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Though she is now resting peacefully, her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the family she so deeply cherished.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
