Cora L. Davis

Cora Lucille (Turner) Davis was born to Lambert G  and  Mae Reasie (Rucker)Turner in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on March 21,1936.  She was one of four children born to the young couple, unfortunately their first child  Wilma Louise passed away in infancy before Cora was born, but it was always important to her to include her when speaking of her family. She would say "I had an older sister that died before I was born". Cora had two brothers who have both preceeded her in death Lambert Stevenson Turner (deceased 2011) survived by his wife Nancy of Rocky Mt, North Carolina and Andrew Cleveland Turner (deceased 2010) survived by his wife Carol of San Diego, California.

The family moved to Harrisburg, PA when Cora was about 8 years old. They lived in Edgemont, where they went to the school house on Edgemont road. Their parents were hard workers and they adopted those same traits. Cora learned many things from her mother, she watched her closely and often traveled with her to visit relatives out of state. She felt a strong mother - daughter bond with her mother and loved and respected her greatly. Her mother became ill in Cora's teen years and spent long intervals in the hospital, it was devastating for her to lose her mother when she was only twenty years old. She has always felt that loss deeply and still spoke of missing her at age 83.

Cora had four children, two sons that preceeded her in death, David Grier Jr (2018)
and Anthony C. Grier (2015). Surviving is her daughter Loraine Hood-Wallace and son
Steven A.Turner (wife Loretta). Though there are many that called her MOM
because of her loving advice and support, the lives she touched were numerous, just to name a few, Vanessa Hankerson, Dorathea Miller, Jackie (deceased 2018) and Leon Green (daughter Nicki).
She was a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt and friend to many.

Cora worked many jobs and starting at a young age, and it was always in the spirit of serving.
She has worked at multiple hospitals, nursing homes and hotels doing various jobs, housekeeping, laundry, dietary, and nursing assistant. From her home for over ten years
she provided child care services that, included handicapped children,
through the state of Pennsylvania Child Care Network.
She cared for, and mothered the young parents that brought her their children
as much as the child. Probably, the most rewarding job for her,  was being a Home Health Care worker, going into peoples homes and meeting there needs, whether it would be cleaning, preparing a meal or administering personal care and assistance to their daily living, she was good at it, and her clients were well taken care of.

Cora met Edward H Davis Jr, they married in 1969,
and enjoyed forty-four years of marriage before his passing in 2014.
They enjoyed music, traveling and bowling in leagues.
Together they came to Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, and knew ,
they found a home and a family they have adored.
They have served their church in many  capacities, including the choir
and as Deacon and Deaconess.

Edward was a veteran and is buried at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville PA,
she  will now join him there.
