David Lee Walker

Born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late James Walker and Jennie L. Walker, David was a spirited, determined, and loyal young man—qualities that followed him into adulthood. Affectionately known as a man tough as nails with a heart that showed itself in his own unique way, he transitioned surrounded by love and lifted by prayer. He was the baby of the family; headstrong and outspoken, never one to hold back a thought — and we loved him for it.

David was not a perfect man, and he never pretended to be. He lived his life true to who he was, and despite every rough edge, he made each of his children feel like they were “daddy’s little girls.” His presence, his voice, and his way of showing love will be deeply missed beyond words.

A master barber, a jack of all trades, and one of the most unwavering men you’d ever meet, he built his life through grit, skill, determination, and perseverance. He was also an amazing cook, often showing his love through the meals, he made and the fellowship that followed. Whether he was cutting hair, fixing something with his hands, or sharing one of his blunt opinions or witty humor, he did it with a spirit that was unmistakably his.

And through it all, he carried an uncanny charm that drew people to him in a way only he could.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Joanne (Pennsylvania); three daughters, Dedra, Sondrea, and Renita (Georgia); sisters, Maggie and Barbara Ann; and his brother, Eugene. He is preceded in death by his beautiful mother, Jennie L. Walker; father, James Walker; and his brother, Reverend James Walker Jr. He also leaves behind a host of six grandchildren—Preston, Olivia, Tyler, Jayden, Revon, and Charlyn—one great-granddaughter, Leilani, along with a great host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

David was loved deeper than he could understand—not because he was perfect, but because he was ours. And in the end, he was blessed to be surrounded by the same love, strength, and heartfelt prayers that carried him through life and into the great beyond.

Please keep his family in prayer as they are planning a memorial service in his honor, to celebrate his life and memory.

Details of his Memorial Service will be posted soon.
