Derricott Maurice Morrison Sr.

Derricott Maurice Morrison was born on September 12, 1952, in Charleston, South Carolina,

He was the firstborn son of Judge Clarence Morrison and Grace Fulton. He became a proud older brother with the birth of Mark in 1960.

Derricott spent his early years in Harrisburg, PA, attending Harrisburg District Schools before continuing his education at the prestigious Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts. A talented trumpet player, he was an active member of the school band. His academic journey led him to Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.

A firm believer in lifelong learning, Derricott later pursued training and certifications in the emerging field of computer science. This commitment to growth would shape his long and successful career as a computer programmer and analyst.

Derricott married Stephanie Dula of Lenoir, North Carolina. Together they raised their son, Derricott Jr., whom he lovingly called "June" or "Junie." Fatherhood was one of his greatest joys, and he carried that same warmth into his role as a grandfather to Maxwell, Wesley, and Kalista.

Derricott spent many years working at Dayton Parts before joining the Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund (PEBTF), where he served as a computer analyst until his retirement. Known for his dedication and excellence, he left a lasting impact on colleagues and friends alike.

Derricott was a devoted son throughout his life. He held a deep and abiding love for his parents. During his mother Grace's later years, when she faced the challenges of dementia, Derricott visited her every single day-offering comfort, familiarity, and love during even the most difficult times. His steadfast presence and gentle care were a testament to his character as a son, and man.

He had a laugh that was truly unforgettable and completely contagious. It was often the first thing people remembered about him and the thing that lingered long after he left a room. His laugh could lift spirits, dissolve tension, and bring people together in the most genuine way.

A man of deep curiosity and intellect, Derricott was an avid reader with a special love for science fiction. He enjoyed keeping up with the latest technologies and was especially excited about innovations in virtual reality, as well as watching movies and spending time with his family. Derricott was a father figure to many. He opened his heart and home to his nieces, nephews, and extended family, always offering guidance, generosity, and unconditional love. His selflessness, quiet strength, and joy-filled presence will be remembered by all who knew him.

Derricott passed away early in the morning on September 11th, 2025 just one day before his 73rd birthday.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Clarence Christopher Morrison and Grace Fulton Morrison, and his brother Mark Everett Morrison.

Derricott is survived by his son Derricott Morrison Jr., Stephanie, his lifelong partner of 50 years, Kathy Morrison, sister-in-law, and cherished grandchildren, Maxwell, Wesley, and Kalista; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will continue to carry his memory forward.

He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, wisdom, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
