Douglas R. Hurst

Douglas R. Hurst, 94 of Harrisburg, passed peacefully on September 11, 2017. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Dorothy Hurst, wife Doris Hurst, step-son Milton Smith, siblings; Dr. Harold, John, Allen and Robert Hurst, Dorothee Holmes and grandson Phillip Smith. He was an active member of St. Paul Episcopal Church where he served as head Usher, he was an Army Veteran and worked for the Harrisburg School District for many years. He is survived by his daughter Diane Matthews, son-in-law Robert Matthews, daughter-in-law Gladys Smith, siblings; Jean Ward, Phyllis Hale, Lillian Williams and Marshall Hurst, grandchildren; Tamala Reid, Robert Matthews, Jr., Kimberly Matthews and Steven (Vesta) Smith, great-grandchildren; Matthew, Erin and Camryn Reid, nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
