With heartfelt sorrow and deep appreciation for a life well-lived, we remember Edward "Oggie" Deverne Ogden, Sr., who passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at UPMC Community Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, at the age of 87.
Born on April 11, 1938, in Harrisburg, Edward was the beloved son of the late Reverend Ernest Ogden and Isabelle (Hopkins) Clark-Ogden. He was raised with strong values and a deep sense of family, attending Susquehanna Township High School, where he began shaping the character that would define his life.
Edward spent many years working in the transportation and construction industries, including time as an independent truck driver. He was a hardworking man who took pride in his craft and found joy in restoring cars, riding motorcycles, and playing pool. His vibrant personality and love for life made him unforgettable to those who knew him well.
Affectionately known as “Oggie,” Edward was a man of warmth, humor, and resilience. He had a colorful spirit and a generous heart, always ready with a story, a helping hand, or a smile that could light up a room.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Edward Ogden, Jr., Earl Warren, and Crystal Ogden; his brother Victor Ogden, Sr.; and his dear friend and special family member Frances Adams. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who will cherish his memory.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents William and Anna Butler, and his brothers George W. Clark III and James Ogden, Sr. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of love, laughter, and strength lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
