Gayle Yvonne Lampley 80 of Harrisburg, PA. passed away on January 12, 2026. Gayle was born on July 15, 1945, daughter of the late Sarah E. Strickland and James D. Strickland. Gayle was employed at Penn Harris Hotel for 10 years, also Hamilton School and Commonwealth of PA.. She retired from Homeland Nursing Home after serving 30 years as a cook.
Gayle also graduated from William Penn High School. Gayle enjoyed going to Church and Praising the Lord. She was a member of Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church whereas one of her ministries was sending cards to the sick and shut - in. She enjoyed spending time with her Children, Great Grandchildren and all her friends that would come by and visit. Gayle's porch was a gathering for everyone that came through the neighborhood. She also liked to cook on Sundays and bless people with her fabulous meals.
Gayle was always involved in her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren's lives. Her daughter Alice - whom she loved so deeply - was the Light of her Life. Alice was such a blessing to her Mom. Every day when she got off work, she would always stop by to visit her Mom. When Alice retired, she was Always there for Gayle and when she'd bring Honesty and Tyrell with her, Gayle was so happy to see them and they were so happy to see her. Alice continuously cared for Gayle daily, especially when her health started to decline.
Gayle was preceded in death by her Parents, loving husband L.C. Lampley of 3 Wonderful Years of marriage. Her Son, Leon Herbert, Grandmom Jackson and Sister Brenda. She is survived by Daughter Alice Cameron (Stacy), Sister Paulette Strickland, Grandchildren, Julius and Tamika Cameron, Great Grandchildren Tyrell Allen and Honesty Tyrell. Included is Best Friend Aruth Fulwiley, Special Neice Cherise Mosley, Special Nephew and Neice DeShawn Dennis and Wife Tisha, also Special Nephew Q Foster. All Beloved Neices and Nephews. Also included are Special Friends Carmella Williams (B.J), Ora Manigault, William Carelock, Nicol Corbin, Julia Robinson and Marty Thompson.
