"The Power of Seed Time Harvest"
"While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease." Genesis 8:22 kjv
Ladies and Gentlemen, I'd like to introduce to you a remarkable woman who's earthly name was Georgia Mae Covington, born to the late Reverend George L Williams Sr., and Ruth M Williams on Friday November 7, 1941, in Colquitt, Miller County, GA. On the afternoon of Saturday August 22, 2026 the Lord so graciously called mom home as she was surrounded by her loving family in Harrisburg, PA.
Raised as a farmer, her father decided to remove her from the 8th grade and trained her to work in the fields. His reasoning was, "I'm going to teach you how to survive, how to work, and how to live. She accomplished that very well as it shaped an incredible work ethic and priceless life skills within her. Devastation gripped mom's heart because she wanted to finish school to become a doctor. That dream would partially become true.
Caregiver experience started at home and in her community at an early age shaped by a faithful God-fearing prayer warrior miracle working mother. Mom's love of caring for others shaped her entire life, and was taught the WORD of GOD shall never fail her and it would become the very foundation she'd build upon for the remainder of her life.
Georgia was greeted by Willie D Covington, a handsome muscular dark-skinned short 5':5 fellow who pursued her tall slender light-skinned frame of 6" until she said yes. Shouts of joy filled the atmosphere as the two joined in Holy Matrimony on Saturday July 2, 1960, in Quincy, Florida. A year later a son a Jr was born followed two years later a daughter.
Georgia moved to Harrisburg, PA following a sister who had previously relocated there and made it her permanent residence as she loved the colder climate. This is where mom's dreams begun to materialize. Mom attended OIC to obtain her GED and later HACC for various classes. Working hard to support her family came naturally yet there was something missing. Growing up in a faith filled home, mom decided to join Lingo Temple, 501 N Cameron Street in Harrisburg in 1969 and surrendered her life to Christ under the leadership of the late Elder E.T. Lingo. She met the late Mother Ezell Ellison who became her life long best friend; later befriended the late Mother Parthenia Brown. Mom learned the foundation of the COGIC and often did missionary work. Her 1st home care patient outside of family was the late 1st Lady, Genieve Temple.
After the 1972 flood from hurricane Agnes, Lingo Temple temporarily relocated to the 7th Day Adventist Church as a shared building 1300 Herr Street under the Leadership of the late Elder Joseph E Bass Sr,. who later became a Bishop; and the late 1st Lady, the beautiful Evelyn Bass. Upon visiting the late Mother Lester, God highlighted an empty church across the street to her and the information was passed to the Pastor who acquired it. The name of the church was later changed to Lingo Memorial COGIC as a memorial to honor the late Elder E.T. Lingo. Mom's official ministry training began with just a handful of members. She wore many different hats as a servant of the Lord. Her rolls were: Sunday school teacher to both adults and children; Sunday School Superintendent: usher; Church driver (the extra long station wagon...lol); nurse; assisted the late Jurisdictional Supervisor of Women, the late Mother Ruth White; a cook and prayer warrior which she led many to Christ. Georgia served well in her duties as a faithful servant of the Lord. Later under the leadership of the late Bishop Benjamin Ravenel, mom was appointed as an Evangelist and continued as one of the church nurses. Her faithfulness to her calling opened doors to run in house revivals. One of her gifts was a gift to SEE. She'd share what THUS SAYS THE LORD with accuracy share visions and the ability to see death in people.
In all that mom endured she allowed her love for God to be her fuel to keep moving forward in the midst of trials and tribulations. One day a long awaited dream door swung wide open and she walked right in. the other side of that door had many struggles but Her trust in God deepened as she navigated through it all. Faith led the way to graduating in 1983 from the historic Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing. This institution was founded in 1883 and operated for 105 years before closing it's doors in 1988. Mom's celebrated graduation of it's 100 years marked a milestone for her as she is now archived in the Thomas T Taber Museum in Williamsport, PA. Who would know 41 years later she would celebrate another 100 year milestone 1924-2024 Lingo Memorial COGIC, the very church she loved and served God's people,
The Lord assigned Georgia once again to assist the late Bishop Joseph E Bass Sr., once again. Being a faithful servant, the Lord promoted her as a Pastor and served in various leadership roles. The Lord sent her on another assignment to Albany, GA to assist her family and their community. At peace in her native birth state, mom worked their land cleaning and clearing out only to plant a large neighborhood garden of delicious sweet watermelons, squash, various peppers, sweet potatoes, greens, peas and much more. She prayed and worshiped tending the garden until demons noticed and went on to harshly attack her. Mom was delivered out of the enemy's hand as a witness in victory for all to see and many demons fled.
As a southerner, a Georgia peach, mom often canned and stored food in preparation for the fall/winter months. Me and my brother always had delicious homemade cakes, pies, and healthy hearty meals. She'd make her own buttermilk to her taste and other delicacies. As an excellent cook, mom often prepared massive holiday dinners starting in September prepping with love. The family would gather in fellowship with much laughter and love making good memories.
Mom knew all too well the power of Seed Time Harvest as she sowed a myriad of seeds into the lives of people throughout her life time. She never talked about what she did. Me and my brother and many others are witnesses to her planting and have experienced and benefited from the harvest; and is still being blessed to this day. She proved the word of God by example that different seeds produced different harvest after it's kind. Mom sowed good groceries, paid mortgages,, rent, utilities, beautiful clothes, monetary seeds. She purchased a home and gave it away, bought cars, vacations for people home and abroad, supported various ministries around the world. She opened up her home to many, baby sat BaeBae kids, broken kids and became a Cub scout mother. She opened her hands and her heart consistently. And we experienced priceless harvest all the while maintaining her household and a strong prayer life. Many people took advantage of her, mistreated and talked about her and still she loved her enemies. Mom understood the power of the Altar as well.
June of 1993 mom decided to send her mother to Georgia to visit her eldest daughter, well her great niece called everybody and told them we were having a family reunion. God brought people from everywhere just to HONOR and show APPRECIATION for that 4th of July weekend, It was absolutely incredible to help her mother celebrate FIVE GENERATIONS of CHILDREN. It was the evidence of answered prayer through SEEDS SOWN IN GOOD SOIL It was phenomenal to partake of such WISDOM, HONOR, RESPECT, & LOVE between MOTHER & DAUGHTER & FAMILY. Mom showed us in real time the POWER OF A SEED!!!

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU
MOM,
YOU WERE AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF A SEED SOWER AS WAS YOUR MOTHER BEFORE YOU. THIS SCRIPTURE GENESIS 8:22 MANIFESTED AS A LIVING WITNESS IN OF ITSELF. YOUR SELFLESS ACTS OF PLANTING, SOWING, AND REAPING RELEASED UNMEASURABLE HARVESTS FOR YOU AND YOUR SEED. GENESIS 1:11 C clause 'WHOSE SEED IS IN ITSELF'. YOU TAUGHT US EACH SEED WOULD PRODUCE IT'S OWN HARVEST AFTER IT'S KIND. WE'VE SEEN THOSE SEEDS LEAVE YOUR LOVING HANDS AND PLANTED INTO FERTILE SOIL. GREAT BLESSINGS WERE HARVESTED FOR YOU AND FUTURE GENERATIONS OF YOUR LOINS. THE ROOTS ARE DEEP, THE VINES LIMBS, AND BRANCHES ARE STRONG. AND THE LEAVES ARE GREEN. THE FRUIT IS RIPEN FOR EATING AND WE ARE GREATFUL. YOU PLANTED WELL, AND WATERED, AND GOD IS INCREASING YEAR AFTER YEAR BECAUSE OF THE PURENESS OF YOUR HEART. YOU WATERED THE FIELD WITH YOUR TEARS, PRAYERS, FAITH, AND THE WORD OF GOD.
MOM, YOU DID NOT CHOOSE THE RICHES OF THIS WORLD BUT THE PRICELESS WEALTH WHICH KEEPS ON GIVING UNTIL THE DAY OF JESUS RETURN. MOM YOU WERE GENTLE, KIND, AND LOVING. YOU NEVER CLOSED YOUR HAND OR YOUR HEART AGAINST ANYONE. YOUR DOORS WERE ALWAYS OPEN. YOU CASTS YOUR CARES ON THE LORD AND HE STRENGTHENED YOU TO KEEP GIVING, KEEP SOWING, TO KEEP LOVING AS HIS SOLD-OUT SERVANT. YOU DID IT MOM; YOU FOUGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH AND KEPT MOVING FORWARD NO MATTER WHAT. WHEN I SAW YOU OPEN YOUR EYES FOR THE LAST TIME, THEY WERE NOT ON ME. YOU SAW WHO CAME TO ESCORT YOU TO YOUR RESTING PLACE AND LEFT PEACE FOR US.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SACRIFICE AND BROKENNESS. GOD'S WORD WAS MADE ALIVE IN YOU AND WE EXPERIENCED IT WITH YOU. THANK YOU FOR THE PRICELESS NUGGETS AND WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE IN YOUR TEACHINGS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. THANK YOU FOR THE MANY PRAYERS THAT CHANGED OUR HEARTS. THANK YOU FOR TRUSTING ME TO CARE FOR YOU. THANK YOU FOR BEING THE BEST MOTHER GOD GAVE TO ME.
~I WILL ALWAYS LOVE THE WOMAN YOU WERE~
Barbara Ann Covington Cleveland...your daughter
