Gloria Brooks-Gilmore, 71, was born in Citronelle, Alabama the daughter of the late Lawrence L. Brooks, Sr and the late Rose Mary Emerson-Brooks.  She was the oldest of 10 children.  She graduated from John Harris High School.  Gloria retired from Giant Foods after 48 years, 7 months and 20 days, as an Assistant Store Manager. For the past 11 years, she was a licensed representative and was building a successful career as a financial coach with Primerica, a financial services company.

On July 11, 1970 Gloria was united in holy matrimony with Wayne Gilmore and their union was blessed with a son and a daughter. They were happily married for 33 years.

Gloria was a woman of many talents and she used them generously as a member of the Mount Calvary Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Rev. D.R. Gilmore.  She started an Arts & Crafts Class for the kids, sang in the Williams Memorial Choir and served as president for many years. Gloria worked tirelessly in the Health and Wellness Auxiliary which she also co-founded.  She was one of the directors of the Missions Team and a very great asset which included working with the Mid-West Food Bank.  Gloria also loved making floral arrangements and decorating the church for Christmas.  Gloria enjoyed organizing and attending family reunions and going on cruises with her family.  Her other hobbies included gardening, writing, and reading.

In addition to working in her church, Gloria enjoyed using her business skills and talents in other organizations. As a Blue Mountain Chapter Member of the American Business Women Association, she served as secretary for three years and was elected Vice -President. She was named “Woman of the Year” for their chapter in 2022. For the Keystone Oral Histories founded by Bryan Wade she served as President on the Board of Directors.
