Iris Price Hooper, age 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2020 at Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born, Iris E. Williams on August 9th in Harrisburg to Ivan A. Williams, Sr. and Edith M. Williams. Iris graduated from John Harris High School, and continued her education at the former Hershey Junior College and Fisk University. After working for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for 29 years, she retired from the Department of Labor & Industry as a statistical assistant. Always a stylish dresser, Iris was an avid sewer, often making her own clothes and accessories for her home. She also loved going to jazz festivals and flower shows. Her other hobbies were shopping, traveling, reading and cross-stitch. Iris was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ivan A. Williams, Jr. She was also the widow of the late John W. “Gig” Price, Jr. and Walter J. Hooper, Jr. Iris is survived by her loving and devoted family, her son, Todd W. Price, Sr. (Suzanne) and her step-son, Walter J. “Jakey” Hooper, III (Joyce). Her three grandchildren, Michelle (Mike), Todd, Jr. (Amanda), Christopher (Taylor) and step-grandchildren, Scott and David. One great grand-daughter, Aaliyah and two cousins, Betty J.L. Curtis, all of Harrisburg, and Roberta Pennington (Jesse) of Jackson, MS, along with a host of beloved relatives and friends. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at Harrisburg Hospital, Brookdale Harrisburg, Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, and Homeland Hospice for their wonderful care and support. Hooper Memorial Home, Inc., Harrisburg, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Due to the current Covid-19 situation, a private ceremony will be held for the family at a later date.
