James L. Howard, Sr., 86 of Harrisburg, passed April 4, 2017. He was the son of the late Willie and Molissa Howard. He was a member of Wesley Union AME Zion Church. James retired from the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant after 25 years of honorable service and was a Supervisor for the Dauphin County Woodside Detention Center. He was a member of several organizations, including Elk Cyrene Lodge #169 where he served as Trustee and Chaplain, the Antler Guard Past Commander, Commander of Military Police Unit 1806, American Legion Post 733 where he served as Past Commander, Past Senior Vice Commander, Chaplain, and Drill Master for the Youth Soul Steppers. He is survived by his devoted wife Shirelene Bratcher Howard, children; Beverly and James, Jr. (Nikki) Howard, Jewel Jones-Fulp (Randy Sr.), Lori Bratcher, Timothy Cox, sister; Etta McCallum, 9 grand, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
