Jerry received his formal education in the Harrisburg School District. Upon relocating to the Central Dauphin East School District, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he graduated in the class of 1979. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
Jerry was employed at various jobs throughout his life. With cooking being one of his passions he was employed by Jazzeryn's Catering. Becoming a freelance caterer, he was contracted with the Islamic Festival that was held every year at the PA Farm Show in Harrisburg, PA. At an early age, he began designing fashions for men and women alike. Under the tutelage of his mother, he became a very successful entrepreneur. JWalter Apparel held its design launch at the Radisson Hotel, in Camp Hill, PA; featuring women’s hats, suits, gowns, and his exclusive necktie line. His favorite color was purple. Devoted to his craft, he was the stage set designer for plays written by his cousin Nathan Gadsden. He became a volunteer for various organizations throughout the region, including at different Food Banks. Wherever help was needed he was there.
