In Loving Memory of Jessica Lynn Segarra: A Shining Soul

Harrisburg, PA - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jessica Lynn Segarra, a cherished daughter, devoted wife, loving mother, and a remarkable soul who left an indelible mark on our lives. Jessica's journey began on April 24, 1984, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She peacefully departed this earthly realm on September 7, 2023, surrounded by her beloved family.

Born to her adoring parents, Hector Segarra and Jennifer Detwiler, Jessica brought light and laughter into their lives from the very beginning. Her infectious smile and warm spirit touched the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Jessica's heritage as a proud African American and Hispanic woman of Puerto Rican descent, amplified her vibrant and colorful personality, reflecting the richness of her cultural roots.

Jessica's pursuit of knowledge led her to her role as a Senior Eligibility Consultant of Operations at Aetna, where she dedicated her talents to the insurance industry for many years. As a "Milt for Life", Jessica loved her Milton Hershey School Family and embraced the many friendships and lessons learned, and was a proud graduate of the class of 2002. Although her formal education comprised of college credits, Jessica's excellence and determination shone through in her professional endeavors. She was a trusted and empathetic advocate for both her clients and colleagues, always approaching her work with passion and integrity.

Beyond her professional achievements, Jessica's true legacy lies in the immeasurable love and impact she had on her family. In Samantha Johnson, her beloved wife, Jessica or "Honey" to Samantha, found a soulmate with whom she embarked on a beautiful journey of unconditional love and unwavering support. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and endless memories. Jessica loved football and made sure to cheer her favorite team the Dallas Cowboys on every chance she could.

Jessica's role as a devoted mother to her precious daughter, J'Lynn Segarra, was her most treasured accomplishment. J'Lynn was the guiding light of her mother's life, and their bond will forever be etched in the hearts of all who witnessed their unbreakable connection. Jessica's sisters, Natasha Segarra, Alicia Segarra, and Ciara Smith, held a special place in her heart, and their shared memories and sisterly bond will remain a source of comfort and strength for them. Jessica also leaves a legacy of love to her Aunts, Uncles, a Niece and three Nephews, her compassionate and caring step-mother Jodi, loving In-laws, along with a host of family and friends.

In anticipation of the pain of this loss, we invite friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Jessica to join us in honoring and celebrating her remarkable journey. A reception will be held on September 20, 2023, at 3532 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, PA 17109. Hooper Memorial Home doors will open at 9:30 am, providing an opportunity for remembrance and reflection.

At 11:00 am, a funeral service will commence in the Chapel, as we gather to pay tribute to the beautiful and extraordinary life that Jessica led. We encourage you to share cherished memories, stories, or words of comfort that will celebrate the joy she brought to our lives, as we bid farewell to a beloved soul who will forever remain in our hearts.

Although we mourn Jessica's departure from this earthly realm, let us remember that her spirit, love, and laughter will forever resonate within us. May we find solace in the cherished memories we shared and find strength in the legacy she left behind. Jessica Lynn Segarra was a brilliant light extinguished too soon, but her impact on our lives shall shine eternally.

Rest in peace, dear Jessica. Your spirit will forever dance among the stars.
