Jessie McQuay, Jr.

On the morning of Sunday June 14, 2026, at the age of 76 years 1 month 6 days Jessie was called home to be with the Lord at Harrisburg Hospital. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all that knew and loved him.

Jessie believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and had attended various churches in the area.

Jessie was born on May 8, 1950, to the late Eddie Mae Spencer McQuay and Jessie McQuay Sr. in Boston, Georgia. His family moved to the Harrisburg area in the late 50’s.

He received his formal education from the Harrisburg School District, William Penn Campus class of 1969 where he studied auto mechanics.

Upon graduation he was employed at Brenner Motors for over 38 years as an auto mechanic. After retirement he took a janitorial job with the Harrisburg Parking Authority for 2 and a half years.

Jessie was the oldest of 6 children, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He loved going to the racetrack, casino, watching sci fi programs, and spending time with his granddaughters. Jessie was the most unlikeable loved person you ever met. He spoke whatever was on his mind and could get on your nerves in a hot second.

He is preceded by his parents, sisters Christine McQuay Johnston, Mary Jeannette McQuay, and brother William McQuay Sr. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Frances J. McQuay, children Jonathan Cleon Carter (Tressa), Tiara Carter, granddaughters, Briana Gumby, Zaria and Ciara Carter, god daughters, Courtni Blystone, Canisha Hitchcock, brothers, Edward McQuay, Steven McQuay, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
