John W. Calloway

In loving memory of John Wayne Calloway, born on February 8, 1960, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to the late Geneva Calloway. John peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital, North 10, surrounded by the caring nurses and staff, including the Hospice of Central PA nurses.

John's life journey encompassed formal education in the Harrisburg school system and a dedicated career with companies such as D&H Distributing Co and Cleanteam Building Services Inc., tirelessly working until his health declined. An independent soul, he also found joy in socializing with family and friends. His love for music and favorite television shows, especially the BET sitcom "Martin," brought him moments of joy.

John's warm smile and captivating presence touched the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kindness and the positive energy he shared with those around him.

On September 4, 2023, at Fox Subacute at Mechanicsburg, John embraced the Lord and received the gift of salvation, witnessed by family at his bedside.

John is now reunited with his loved ones who preceded him in death, including his mother Geneva Calloway Dunlap, stepfather Elliott Dunlap, brother David Calloway, maternal grandfather Jesse Calloway Sr., and maternal grandmother Rosetta Fitzgerald Calloway.

His legacy of love and warmth lives on through cherished cousins John Calloway, Garry Calloway, Georgie Potts and his devoted cousin and caretaker, Lester Bowman. John also leaves behind a host of  family and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.
