Judith (Judy) A. Finley was born to the late Willie “Rock” Maynard Sr. and Betty J. (Ray) Maynard on August 18, 1953, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Judy entered eternal rest on August 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Judy was part of the 1st graduating class at Harrisburg High School, in 1972. Judy dedicated her life to God and was a current member of Mount Zion Church of Believers under the Pastoral Care of Rev. Wilma M. Finley. Judy was also a member of Shiloh Church of God in Christ, Pastor Kevin Scott, where she attended The Church of God in Christ (COGIC) Doctrine Class under the Tutelage of Elder Charles Henderson Sr., was a member of the Mission and Prison Ministries, Choir, SCOPE group #4 and was a faithful Usher – although sometimes in pain when requested to Usher, she answered the call. Judy was also a former member of Grace Temple Church of the Living God for 35 years; where she was ordained as an Exhorter in the Pennsylvania State Assembly under Bishop Ivy A. Hopkins, attended the Berean School of Ministry, served on the Choir and Usher Board. Her love for God was evident in the way that she lived, loved, and cared for those around her.
Judy retired in 2020 after 35 years of service at the United States Postal Service. In her leisure time, Judy enjoyed singing with the Maynard Family Choir, taking vacations, spending time with her family and friends, and serving as her loving husband Steve’s navigator on their many adventures together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, “Rock” and Betty Maynard, her son; Joseph Maynard, her sisters; Sonya L. Banks, Twyla L. Maynard, and Andrea D. Lockett as well as her brother, Jethro Brooks.
Judy leaves to cherish her memory her husband Steven A. Finley Sr., her only living sibling; Willie Maynard Jr., (Margaret) her sons; Jamie Maynard, Anthony Hatcher, Steven Finley Jr. (Jasmine Kremer), and Brian Finley (Carla), her grand-children; Anthony Jr., Alaysha, Anyla, Quinton, Marcale, Quajuan, Ay’den, Adrianna, Steven III, Princeton, Noel, Jamie, Staycha, Khalil, Maurice, great-grandchildren, Talachyar, Alachya, Aliyonna, Sincere and Jervontay, Godchildren Shauniqua Barksdale, Ishmail and Zaire Mosby and a host of nieces and nephews. Loving Aunts, Kathlyn “Forchy” Herring, Hildred Corbin, Louise Stubblefield and Mother-in-Love, Wilma M. Finley.
Judy’s memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, church family, and all those whose life she touched. Her love, laughter, faith and kindness will continue to live on through the many lives she impacted. Though she will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that she is now resting peacefully in the presence of the Lord.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
