Karen L. Summers-Grant

Karen L. Summers-Grant, 73 of Harrisburg was born on February 24, 1951 and was the oldest of seven children of the late William E. Summers Jr. and Helen L. Barbour Summers.

On Sunday, March 3, 2024, while at home, Karen transitioned from this life into eternal life a week after celebrating her 73rd birthday.

Karen grew up in Middletown, PA and received her formal education there, with the Class of 1969.  Karen was also an active member of the IBPOE drill team.

After a long and successful career of 45+ years, Karen retired as a Receiving Technician from TE (formerly Tyco and AMP). Karen enjoyed spending time with her family and the special outings with the “crew”.     

Karen leaves irreplaceable memories to be cherished by her children, Connie J. Brown, and Darryl E. Grant; fifteen (15) grandchildren, Roceen, Sentrea (T.J.), Aja (Malik), Kashea, Nychell, Darryl, Dejuanne, Julian, Javion, Dominic, Hanna, Dominique, and Shemar; eight (8) great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Qua’Meer, Janessa, Dewan, Mariah, Jewels, Aubrey and Ja’Reem; her siblings, William E. Summers, III (Donna) and Jeannette Gumby (Ron); sister in-law, Elizabeth Summers; two (2) nieces, JaRonda (Vince) & JaKia, one (1) nephew, Wesley (Holly); one (1) great-nephew, Grant; lifelong friend and ex-husband, Barry; and a host of relatives and friends.

 In addition to her parents, Karen was also preceded in death by her brothers, Curt, Gordon, George, and Garry and two (2) granddaughters, Chanel, and Christen.

To honor Karen’s wishes, a formal service will not be held. The family would like to thank everyone for their love, prayers, and words of encouragement.
