Lawrence Carter

Larry Carter, 61 of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2018 after being ill. Larry was surrounding by his wife, son, daughter, and other family members.

Larry was born October 25, 1956 in Queens, NY. He was the son of Beatrice Gillard (Carter) and the late Joseph Nelson. He attended school in the Bronx. After high school Larry joined the United States Marine Corps where he met his wife Maxine. Larry served 22 years in the United States Marine Corps including a tour in "Desert Storm" After his retirement he spent some time in the food industry working for Wendy's, Flying J and Great Steak & Potato Co. finally landing a job with D&H Distributing Co. Where he spent almost 15 years working as a Supervisor. He was a member of Legion as well. He absolutely enjoyed music always keeping up with the latest as well as the oldies and made sure everyone heard it as well.  Larry also had a passion for movies, bowling, dominos, and spending time with friends family and especially his grandchildren. No matter what anyone asked upon Larry he was always there to help in their time of need.

Larry leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Beatrice Gillard (Carter): his wife Maxine Carter (Smith), two children Rasheeda Carter and Laurence Carter also his 5 grandchildren Darius, Maxine, Braylin, Jalaya, Bryce. Mother-in-law Marie Smith (Bradford); Daughter-in-law Shardae Carter; Son-in-law Jalil Walters; 5 of sisters-in-law, Special niece  who is like a daughter, Teia Collins , Two Special great nieces  Acharmanette, and Zaetiah and hosts of other relatives and friends.

Larry was always one of brightest, boldest and loudest person in the room and will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him.
