Leonard “Pete” Jackson, Jr. surrounded by loving family, passed peacefully on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at his home in his 75th year. A lifelong resident of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he was born on August 11, 1946, to the late Leonard Jackson Sr. and Della Lou Manning Jackson.
Pete received his formal education from John Harris Senior High School, graduating in 1965. A gifted athlete, he lettered in football, baseball, and basketball. The highlight of his professional football career was playing defensive back for the Schuylkill Coal Crackers.
His working career involved Construction Masonry with various companies, retiring from Valk Manufacturing.
A member of Christian Life Center Church of the Living God, he served as Deacon and on the State Usher Board. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends and watching football.
Pete was predeceased by his brother, Patrick Manning, Jr. and his sister, Frances “Adele” Manning Brooks.
Pete’s life will be remembered and celebrated by his loving daughter, Melissa Lawton, two loving sisters, Odessa Jackson and Clara Mae Jackson, a loving brother, Charles Jackson and wife, Frances, a son-in-law, Jamel Lawton, all of Harrisburg, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Social distancing and wearing of mark are required even if fully vaccinated.
