Lisa Marcella Veney was born in Media, Pennsylvania on November 20, 1969, to the late Bishop Paul T. Veney, Sr., and Barbara Jean Veney.
Lisa began her education in the Harrisburg School District then at a private Christian School within her father’s church. She then attended Calvary Christian School, then John Harris High School, where she graduated in 1988. She sang on the choir then began directing the choir at her father’s church, Gospel Tabernacle. She began working at PHEAA but committed most of her time to the music ministry at her church, Abundant Life Community Church, formerly known as Gospel Tabernacle. She sang with a local gospel group named Chosen, The City-Wide Revival Choir, was the choir director for the Veney Victory Voices, was the director of the gospel choir at Susquehanna High School and directed the Central PA Fellowship Community Choir. During this time, she also led worship at many churches and other services throughout the city. She mentored both vocalists and musicians and would later bring many of those young people together to join her on praise and worship teams that ministered across Pennsylvania.
In 1999, she began attending Victory Bible College, in Oklahoma. She led worship for the Youth Outreach in North Tulsa and led worship with the choir at Victory Christian Center. A short time later she was diagnosed with kidney failure. She returned to Harrisburg and began dialysis treatment and various testing, which ultimately led to her being eligible to be listed on several kidney transplant lists. She continued serving various ministries through praise and worship and mentoring.
In 2005, Lisa moved with her parents to North Carolina to assist them on their new assignment at Evangelistic Church of Deliverance. There she was the choir director for the youth, men, and praise and worship choirs. She also began studying at the Halifax Community College where she studied Worship and Pastoral Care. Lisa began once again to test for eligibility for a kidney transplant. At the same time, her elder brother Troy began the process too. In 2008, Troy gave Lisa a kidney and she made a “Miracle” recovery and returned to a fulfilling life in music ministry. By 2014, she became sick again and returned to Harrisburg.
Once in Harrisburg, Lisa joined New Beginnings Worship Center, under the Leadership of Pastor Carolyn White-Splawn, where she directed and led the praise team. She continued helping other ministries including directing choirs at Grace Temple, under Bishop Ivy A. Hopkins, Full Gospel Evangelist Ministries, under Pastors Joseph and Nancy Linder, God’s Kingdom Design, under Prophetess Melissa White, and directed a choir that sang in a local gospel production by Valerie Waller. In 2023, she became a successful Paparazzi Consultant and enjoyed her many vending opportunities as well as meeting new people. In 2024, she joined Beulah Baptist Church where she sang with the choir and praise team. In 2025, she was contacted by a transplant center in Hackensack, New Jersey where she was in the process of testing to be eligible for a transplant.
On Monday, December 8, while at home, Lisa peacefully transitioned from time to eternity safely into the Master’s arms. She leaves an everlasting legacy of love never to be forgotten by her sister, Suzanne Collins, brothers, Paul “Troy” Veney, Jr. (April), and Daniel Veney. A loving niece Desiree Veney, nephew, Dwight Flood (Shawnell), cousin-sister Yolanda Hart , God-brother Stephen Pope, two life-long sister-friends, Joell Robinson (Robert), and Vikki Moody (Leon), life-long brother-friend Lawrence Ravenell, The Robinsons, The Barnes, and Scott families, and a host of cousins, other family, and very close friends.
Please keep the Veney family in your hearts and in your prayers.
