Martha Mein Makor, daughter of the late Garpue and Gorlon Yriah, passed away peacefully at home on April 30th, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Liberia, West Africa, Martha met her lifelong partner, Peter Kpah Makor, in 1949 in Zuotuo, Liberia.
Martha was a cornerstone of faith and service, dedicating much of her life to missionary work alongside her husband Deacon Peter Kpah Makor. In 1959, they were called to serve in Ziah, Liberia, where they worked as evangelists under the leadership of Reverend Mahn C. Krua. For 39 years, Martha devoted herself to the mission, caring deeply for the children residing at the missionary school and managing numerous duties at home.
In 1998, amid civil unrest in Liberia, Martha and Peter relocated to the Ivory Coast before immigrating to the United States to join their daughter. They continued their service at the Community Christian Fellowship Church in Harrisburg, ministering to others and supporting their family.
Martha lived in Harrisburg with her family who she catered to. A matriarch in her own life and the lives of many. She was seen as a beacon of light, a leader, and a soldier for the Lord.
Martha leaves behind a profound legacy as the matriarch of the Makor family, remembered lovingly by her 12 children, 5 adopted children, 87 grandchildren,189 great-grandchildren and 42 great-great-grandchildren. Her life exemplified unwavering faith, immense love, and the joy of service. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Please join us in celebrating the life of a truly remarkable woman of God, Martha Mein Makor.
