Mary Elizabeth Snyder-Bass

Mary Elizabeth "Patty" Snyder-Bass, 82, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Born on August 13, 1943, in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania, Patty was the daughter of the late William L. Snyder and Ida Marie Lesher. She was also the beloved granddaughter of Mary E. Lesher. Raised in a close-knit community, Patty attended John Harris High School and went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree from Harrisburg Area Community College.

Patty dedicated much of her professional life to public service, working for the City of Harrisburg as the Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police. Her role placed her at the heart of the city's operations, where she served with diligence and pride.

A devout Roman Catholic, Patty was deeply committed to her faith. She loved her Parish, St. Francis of Assisi, Harrisburg.

Patty found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener, often tending to her plants with care and patience. Her love for crochet brought warmth-both literal and emotional-to those around her, and she was rarely without a book in hand, finding comfort and inspiration in reading. She was a firm believer in equal rights for all and lived her life advocating for just causes.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Linda I. Bailey, William T. Snyder, and Maquel-Erin "Kelly" Snyder-Groom. Her legacy continues through her (7) grandchildren, Amy Snyder, Tiffany Sims Wiggins, Briana Snyder, William T. Snyder, Jr., Donovan Bailey, Kevin Groom, Jr., and Michael Groom and (8) great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. Also surviving are sisters: Beverly A. Snyder, Deborah K. Snyder-Klotz, Bonnie S. Snyder, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Patty's memory will be cherished by all who knew her. May her life of service, faith, and quiet strength continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
