Melvin Monroe Easton, Sr.

Melvin Monroe Easton, Sr. entered into eternal rest on July 18, 2026, at the age of 68.

Melvin was born on September 18, 1957, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to the late Bishop John Easton and Mary Easton. He was one of twelve siblings. His parents instilled in him a love for the church from an early age, a foundation that remained an important part of his life. Melvin was baptized at a young age and remained active in church throughout his twenties.

Melvin was married for eleven years, and through that union were born his three beloved children: Vera, Monroe, and C.J.

He was educated in the Harrisburg School District and graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1977. A gifted athlete, Melvin excelled in basketball and earned a college scholarship. He also had a passion for the game of chess and proudly considered himself a “master of the game.” Throughout his life, Melvin formed many friendships and enjoyed spending time with those around him.

Later in life, Melvin completed the Nurse Aide Training Program through Harrisburg Area Community College. In 2021, he completed the Christian Discipleship Course at Bethesda Mission, reflecting a season of spiritual growth and personal renewal. He especially enjoyed reading the Bible and talking with others about his faith and his relationship with the Lord.

Melvin’s life was one of both blessings and challenges. Along the way, he experienced moments of joy, perseverance, humor, and love. Though his journey was not without hardship, his life touched many people in different ways. Those who knew him will remember him through the memories they shared and the lasting impact he made on their lives.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Bishop John Easton and Mary Easton; his brothers, William Easton, Cecil Easton, Larry “Joe Rock” Easton, and John “Jerry” Easton; and his sisters, Juanita Easton and Mary (Evonne) Powell.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Vera Lee (Eli) Williams, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Melvin Monroe Easton Jr., of Sacramento, California; and Curtis Jamar “C.J.” Easton, of Jacksonville, Florida; his cherished grandchildren, Lexis, Eliana, Uriah, Malachi, Zacai, Aniyah, and Legend; his sisters, Elaine Easton, Lynette Brooks, Joyce (Aree Ben Zion, formerly Charles) Jenkins, and Arleen Bonheur; his brother, Isaiah Easton; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

The family is grateful for the prayers, support, and expressions of sympathy extended during this difficult time. They respectfully request your continued prayers as they grieve this loss.
