Mercedes Rideout of the Bronx, New York went home peacefully in her sleep at the age of 77. Mercedes was born to the late Louis Smith and Willie Mae Scott White in Statesville, NC on May 10, 1944.
She attended Bronx Miracle Gospel Ministry when she was able, she loved going to church.
She enjoyed going to the beauty shop and getting her hair done, shopping for clothes and jewelry. Mercedes loved her family with all her heart. She enjoyed coming home for the holidays to big family dinners with all her family there. Her famous words were “Pete I want to come home”.
Mercedes joins her siblings; Grady Scott, Henry Moon, and Tomasina White. She leaves to celebrate her life siblings; Hattie Newman, Rev. William Scott (Rose), Leon Scott Reed (Mary), Stacey Scott White, Ralph White, Clayton White, Richard Moon, sister-in-law Vertia Mae Scott (wife of the late Grady Scott). She also leaves to remember her smile and love nieces; Jacquline Long, MeMe, Mary Scott, Jada, nephew Cody and other relatives and friends.
On a more personal note, Mercedes, we loved you so much, but God loved you more. I’ll see you in the morning. I love you, kiss mom for us.
