Michael Joseph Carew

Michael “Mike” Carew, 74 years old and a lifelong resident of York, passed away on March 24, 2023. He was the son of Howard J. Carew and Frances D. Carew. His wife of 28 years, Jill Budesheim Carew, died last year. Mike will be laid to rest next to Jill and their infant son, Keenan Joseph Carew at Paxtang Cemetery, Harrisburg, in a private family ceremony. Mike is survived by his brother, Peter Carew and wife, Nancy, of Portland Oregon; his son, Paul Carew of Boise, Idaho; his mother-in-law, Joyce Budesheim and sister-in-law, Beth Budesheim, both of Harrisburg; brother-in-law, Matthew Budesheim of Germany; and nephews and nieces: Devon Carew of Oregon, Patrick Carew of California, Bjorn, Carew and Frances Boulding of Colorado, Matthias and Tobias Budesheim of Germany; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. Mike was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Susan Carew Boulding. Mike was a graduate of the Hun School of New Jersey and Washington College of Maryland. Mike ran Carew Corporation after his father retired, then later operated Carew Realty, a commercial real estate firm. In addition, Mike was active in local civic organizations including the YMCA and the York County History Center as a long time board member. Sports related interests included golfing, sailing, kayaking, pickleball, and table tennis. However, his primary interest was always connecting with people, his family and especially his life long friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 13, 2023 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 925 S George St, York, PA 17403. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the charity of your choice may be made.
