Monroe Morris was born on October 3, 1943, in Talladega, Alabama, to the late Laura and Isiah Morris and a loving, close-knit family.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Monroe spent his career as a construction worker and proudly retired from the 1180 Local Union. He was a true craftsman who took pride in building not only structures but also strong relationships with those he worked alongside.
Monroe had a vibrant spirit and a magnetic personality. He was an avid football fan, never missing a chance to root for his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. Whether at home or among friends, Monroe’s stories were legendary, filled with humor, wisdom, and the richness of a life well lived. He had a unique gift for bringing people together through laughter and heartfelt conversation.
On Monday, May 12, 2025, Monroe departed this world to reunite with his parents; nine siblings, Kathleen, Lilly, Francis, Jean, Sarah Ruth, Unece, Grim, Fred, and Frank Morris; and his cherished grandson, LaQuan Clark.
Monroe’s legacy lives on through those who loved him dearly. He leaves to cherish his memory Christine Morris; his loving daughter and son-in-law, Shireba (Shawn) Jones; his sister, Clara Baxter; his brother and sister-in-law, Johnnie (Chavelle) Morris; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives he touched.
Monroe’s presence will be deeply missed, but his stories, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
