d. March 23, 2018

Paul S. Davis Jr.

Deacon Paul S. Davis, Jr., 97 years young, a native of Augusta, Georgia was born March 5, 1921 to the parents of Paul Samuel Davis, Sr. and Julia Davis. He answered the Master’s call from faithful, Christian service on March 23, 2018.

He married Mary, his childhood sweetheart on November 7, 1943 and this beautiful union proved to be a lasting one of love and patience. After completing studies in Augusta, he served in the Armed Forces (448th Signal Corps) Construction Battalion which carried him to the European Theatre of Operations.

The Davis family moved to Harrisburg in 1949 at which time he enrolled in Thompson College. He joined Second Baptist Church where he served as Trustee and Choir member, later became Chairman of the Deacon Board where he served faithfully.

Paul was employed by Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot from which he retired in 1978. In 1985 he started to work for Pinkerton Security Company.  He later joined Tabernacle Baptist Church in 1967, where he served as a Deacon, Choir Member and Sunday school member.

We were inspired by his strong faith and Christian walk as a husband, father, family member, neighbor, friend and always showing concern for others.  He leaves behind his devoted wife, Mary L. Davis, daughter, Paula Love both of Harrisburg, his siblings; Richard (Marguerite) Davis of Augusta Georgia, Ann Rivers of Cleveland Ohio and Alberta Jenkins of  New York, sister-in-law, Mildred Davis of Augusta Georgia, 4 grand, 8 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives, church members and friends.
