Harrisburg

Emblem

Peggy Louise Tabb, was gently placed in the loving hands of Jesus, her Savior on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the Colonial Park Care Center (Memory Care Unit) ending her earthly journey. Peggy was born on November 23, 1938 in Milledgeville, Georgia, eldest daughter of the Late Roosevelt and Tessie Mae Lawson, Sr.

Peggy was a life-long member of the Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church, Harrisburg PA, where she faithfully served as an usher and nurse. She often brought bottles of water, tissues and snacks to those that had special needs.

Those that knew Peggy would say that she was a Sweetheart and giving and loving.  She was always taking care of someone, and that is why she found it very hard to allow people to take care of her when Dementia, robbed her of her precious gifts, a little at a time.

Peggy worked at various places and in various capacities – nurse’s aide – Polyclinic Hospital Labor and Delivery, Elevator operator – the Old Governor’s Hotel, cafeteria and snack bars – Servimation/Covenco, cashier – Hills, Pomeroy’s, Boscov’s, Weis Markets, retiring only after her health required her to take care of herself.

Peggy just loved to cook.  Her signature dishes were macaroni and cheese, cornbread and pound cakes, which she happily supplied her family and church family, her friends, and at holidays and cookouts at her apartment residence.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was pre-deceased by her husband (Cleveland Sr.), her son (Harold), and baby sister (Penny Elaine Lawson).  She leaves to mourn her children, Valerie Marie Avila and Cleveland Tabb Jr., her grandchildren, John W. Hollins IV, Jose’ Jahmil (Ashley) Avila, Niiah Marie and Amari James Tabb; great grandchildren, Adaleya Sa’Rae Hollins, Jaeliani Marie Hollins, and three sisters – Shirley Sanderfur, Christine Lawson (of Harrisburg PA), Myrtice Lawson (Spartanburg SC), six brothers – Roosevelt Jr., John Calvin, Crawford Sr. (Juanita), Tony Eugene, Duane Leon Lawson (all Harrisburg PA) and Rev. Willie (Margaret) Lawson (Sumter SC), long time friend, Mary Patterson, her God daughter, Varis Patterson Peace and a host of other relatives and friends.
