Philip was born on March 16, 1961, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was adopted and raised by Augustus Sullivan, Sr. and his mother, Sheila D. Sullivan. He completed his earthly journey, entered eternal life on Thursday July 9, 2026 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Augustus E. Sullivan, Sr., and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Scott, Sr.
Philip was a proud graduate of Harrisburg High School, Class of 1979. Following graduation, he dedicated many years of faithful service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where he worked for both the Department of Agriculture and the Department of General Services before retiring. Phillip was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He loved his football team, club friends, and club members of Mr. G’s Bar and Grill.
Phillip was a devoted son, father, brother, uncle, cousin and Friend to many. He loved people, valued connections, conversations and friendships, always lending a helping hand. Spending time with his family and extended family, and neighbors. He was affectionately called “Philly Phil”, “Daddy”, “Bro Phil”, “Uncle Phil”, and “Pop Pop”. As a young man, Phillip had remarkable talented for baseball. During his illness he was a fighter, always positive, grateful to everyone who cared for him. Doctors, Nurses, Therapists, Family, neighbors, friends, caregivers , Sister Cathy, and Daughters.
He is survived by wife Sheila A. Sullivan of 29 years. Their union in July 1998. His loving mother Sheila D. Sullivan of Salisbury, North Carolina. He leaves loving memories of his daughters Mahleka Minor of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Tanecia (Obed) Izunwa of King George, Virginia. His sisters Catherine Hollis “Cathy” of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Paula Sullivan of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Andrea Standback (William) of Kannapolis, North Carolina. Stepbrother and Stepsister Angela Sullivan and Augustus Sullivan Jr. (Georgia). Step children Thomas Mitchell of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Sheree Brown of Miami, Florida. Grandkids Stephan Minor, Semya Minor, Chyna Titherington, Thomas Mitchell, Jr., and Luther Mitchell. Mother-in law Hazel Bishop, Sister-in-Law Carrie (Sammy) Jacobs, Brother-in-Law Leroy (Carla) Taylor, and Butch Taylor. He will be deeply loved and missed by nieces and nephews: Eric, Sonia, Dontae, Sonyah, Breauna, Brielle, Elijah, Jamual, RJ, and Nene. His special host of friend and many special cousins, extended family, host of neighbors will carry his legacy on forever.
