Ricardo "Tarzan" Ayler, 61, of Harrisburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Community Osteopathic Hospital with family by his side. Ricardo was born in Mobile, Alabama to Mary T. and the late Herman L. Ayler.
In 1979 Ricardo, more commonly known as "Ricc" , graduated from William Penn Vo-Tech and began his first job at AMP, Inc. He would go on to pursue a career in Quality Assurance with Fruehauf Corp., Hershey Pasta, and The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In 2001, Rice opened Penbrook Motors, operating the pre-owned auto dealership part-time until he closed it in 2007. That same year he completed an Associate of Applied Science degree at Harrisburg Area Community College. Rice retired in 2018, after 20+ years with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania working in the Departments of Revenue, Procurement, and Transportation to pursue more time with his family and expand his Real Estate portfolio as a Private Residential Landlord.
Ricc was an accomplished boxer and earned an Outstanding Achievement Award in the 1987 Pennsylvania Golden Gloves. Ricc was also a diehard fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide and spent his free time enjoying game footage, movies, classic cars, spending time with his many friends, and listening to Motown.
In addition to his father, Ricardo was preceded in death by his sisters, Vanessa Y. Ayler and Sherry D. Ayler, and nephew Phillip Ayler.
Ricardo is survived by his devoted wife, Antonia M. Ayler; a daughter, Crystal M. Ayler; 2 sons, Jerome Ayler and Terryl Ayler; mother, Mary T. Ayler; brother, Demetrius Ayler; 6 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023, 1pm at Hooper Memorial Home located at 3532 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, PA. The service will also be shown via livestream at https://youtube.com/live/JR6TKxH6ksw . Repast to follow.
