In Loving Memory of Robert Lee Graham Sr.

May 22, 1943 - July 1, 2026

On July 1, 2026, Robert Lee Graham Sr. was given his wings of glory as he peacefully departed this earthly life, surrounded by the love of family and the grace of God. While our hearts mourn his passing, we rejoice in a life well lived, a life defined by faith, service, dedication, and love.

Robert was born on May 22, 1943, in Jennings, Florida, to the late Herman Graham Sr. and Mary Alice Gandy. He was raised in Jennings, where his family, including the loving influence of his mother and stepfather, Artisee Gandy, helped instill the values of hard work, humility, faith, and love for family that would guide him throughout his life.

Affectionately known as "Robert Lee" by many of his friends throughout North Florida, he graduated from J.R.E. Lee High School in Jasper, Florida, before answering the call to serve his country in the United States Army.

Following his military service, Robert made Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, his home. He began his civilian career with the Steelton & Highspire Railroad Company, where he faithfully worked for ten years. He later joined the Defense Logistics Agency–New Cumberland Army Depot in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, where he dedicated thirty-two years of outstanding service. His commitment, professionalism, and unwavering work ethic earned him the Defense Logistics Agency Distinguished Career Award, recognizing more than thirty years of exemplary service to his nation.

Robert believed in serving not only his country but also his community. He was a lifetime member of Blacks In Government (BIG) and generously volunteered his time representing the organization through the Middletown VFW Post 1620 Military Share Distribution Program, helping support fellow veterans and families in need.

Above all else, Robert loved the Lord. He served God as a member of Wesley Union A.M.E. Zion Church for over 25 years. While faithfully serving God, he was a member of the Trustee Board and served as its secretary. He was also on the Culinary Committee for Wesley Union A.M.E. Zion Church.

Robert's family and his friends remained the foundation of his life. He often spoke about the importance of grace and forgiveness, believing they were essential to living a faithful and meaningful life. His faith was reflected in his kindness, generosity, and willingness to extend compassion to others.

On October 5, 2013, Robert was united in holy matrimony with Virginia Wells. Together, they shared companionship and cherished memories. Following their marriage, Robert and Virginia made their home in West Chester, Pennsylvania, where they continued building a life together.

Robert embraced life's simple joys and treasured the people God placed in his life. He loved spending time with family and friends and never met a stranger. Known for his warm smile, welcoming spirit, and easy conversation, Robert was naturally sociable and enjoyed bringing people together. He enjoyed watching sports, taking cruises with his wife and friends, playing spirited games of spades, and listening to Gospel, Motown, and Smooth Jazz music. He rarely missed the daily news and could often be found enjoying his favorite game shows and judge shows. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or words of encouragement, he made those around him feel valued and at home.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Graham Sr. and Mary Alice Gandy; his stepfather, Artisee Gandy; his beloved sisters, Jennette Gandy Lee, Cora Gandy Green, and Shirley Gandy Williams; and his brother, Herman Graham Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Virginia Wells Graham; his loving children, his son Robert "Bobby" Graham Jr. (fiancée, Sharon); his son Andre "Marty" Franklin (fiancée, Simone); his daughters Princess Lock-Bailey, Sheila Smith, and Vanessa Staff (husband, Rickey); his sister, Sarah Barrett (husband, Charles), of Jennings, Florida; along with a host of cherished nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by his love and presence.

Robert's legacy is one of faithful service, quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and enduring love. He served his country with honor, his community with compassion, and his family with his whole heart. Though he is no longer with us in body, his example, his faith, and the countless memories he leaves behind will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know and love him.
