Samuel M. Letterlough Sr.

Samuel M. Letterlough Sr., 78, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025 at Holy Spirit Hospital surrounded by loved ones. 

Sam, as he was affectionately called, was born in Seagrove, North Carolina on October 30, 1946. Sam worked hard at what he loved best…repairing and restoring cars. He was self-employed at G & S Garage and served the community for over 45 years. He loved riding motorcycles, watching wrestling matches and reading his newspaper. 

Sam leaves to celebrate his life, children: Monica Duncan Letterlough (mother, Joyce A. Spears), Nyree S. Letterlough and Samuel M. Letterlough, Jr. (mother, Ilene Stewart), Ahzia Letterlough and stepchildren Adrienne V. Stewart, Thomas Scott, Elaine M. Raby, and Tiffany Sterling (mother, Brooke Sterling).

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Garl and Annie Letterlough, his brothers Ervie, Harvey Sr., and Hurley Letterlough, his loving sister, Daphne Louise Letterlough, and stepchildren Michelle and Melvin Spears.

Sam leaves to celebrate his life, his sisters, Clara Lewis, Sammee D. Childs, Ernestine Greene, his brothers, Charles William Letterlough, Dale Michael Letterlough, and his significant other, Brooke Sterling. He also leaves a whole host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will miss him dearly.

Sam was loved by many and will be missed by all.
