Virginia B. Jenkins

Virginia Jenkins, formerly of Harrisburg, PA, eldest of nine children, was born on November 17, 1939, in Hancock County, Georgia, to the late Ila Mae Kitchens Braddy and the late Leroy Braddy. On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in Houston, Texas, an angel of the Lord descended from above and whispered softly, “Come unto Me, and I will give you eternal rest.”

She was educated in Georgia at Second Mineral Spring School and later relocated from Washington County, Georgia, to Washington, D.C., and soon after settled in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She met her beloved husband, Arthur Jenkins Jr., and built a life rooted in family love, always doting on her grandchildren, Christianity, and many other cherished memories.

Her spiritual journey began at Second Mineral Springs Baptist church in Warthern, Georgia, where she was baptized at an early age. Her journey continued through the teachings of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She later became a member of Mount Calvary Church of God in Christ (Harrisburg, PA). She loved attending church and was a member of the Usher committee. Her hobbies included walking, lottery, and watching horse races.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Larry Brady (Betty), her granddaughter, Taylor Childs, her great-grandson Tre’quan Williams, her brothers, A.J. Braddy, Curtis Braddy, Iman Khalil Akbar (Vertis Braddy), and her sister Rochelle Hall.

She leaves to cherish and celebrate her memory her sons, Arthur Lee Jenkins III (Patricia) of Houston, Texas, Marvin Jenkins of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; her granddaughter, Erika Sloane; her grandson, Lawrence Brady; her great-grandson, Sae’Kwon Simmons; and her great-great-granddaughter, Lai’Ahni Williams, all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Dorris Brady (Maryann); her sisters, Gloryous Riddle of Davisboro, Georgia, Joyce Pitts (Stanley), and Curlene DeVan (Walter) of Harrisburg, PA; her brother-in-law, Freddie L. Hall of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
