Wendie was born on March 26, 1960, to the late Alvin Hanna and Juanita Braxton. She was lovingly known for being an extreme busy body and always into something but also one of the best daughters a mother could ask for. She was the oldest of her siblings and often acted as a second mom and always had their backs. She had one of the biggest hearts and a contagious smile, and a laugh that you could never forget. She could make friends everywhere she went because she had such a light that made people gravitate towards her. She graduated from Central Dauphin High School, Class of 79'. Right after graduation, she, along with some friends and classmates, went to Florida to celebrate such an important milestone. Shortly after returning from her trip, she met Winston Hawkins, whom she would then go on to marry in the Summer of 1983 and over the years, Winston and Wendie would go on to have 2 daughters, Taihesha and Markeeta.
She enjoyed traveling, family gatherings, watching reruns of her favorite shows, decorating for the holidays, baking, and sitting out on her porch from sunrise to sunset with a radio playing. She was known as the neighborhood mom and looked after all the neighborhood kids as if they were her own. There were even a few that she made sure got on and off their bus safely. She just overall loved being outside, and nothing made her happier than being out on those warm summer nights chatting and laughing with the neighbors.
Wendie made her peaceful transition from this earth on March 5, 2026. She was preceded in death by her father Alvin Hanna, her wonderful and loving step-father of many years, George Braxton, and her loving sister-in-law, Rosie Hawkins. She leaves to celebrate her life and loving memory, her husband Winston, her mother Juanita Braxton, her sister Robin Bush (Charles), her brother Shawn Hanna, her sister Tameka Braxton, her daughter Taihesha Hawkins-Hardy (Zackery), her daughter Markeeta Hawkins, her three grandsons Eric, Dominique and Joel, 4 great grandchildren, lots of brother and sister- in- laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
