William L. Burton

Mr. William Louis Burton was born on February 13, 1928 and departed life peacefully on May 22, 2015. He graduated from John Harris High School in Harrisburg, PA. He then honorably served in the United States Army as a sergeant and was a veteran of the Korean War. After working for over 20 years as a United States Postal Service mail carrier, he retired for the simpler life where he enjoyed the solitude of fishing and also loved playing bingo. He married his beloved wife Althenia Aiken Burton and they were happily married for 46 years when she passed away in 1994. To this union three children were born: a son, Walter L. Burton; and two daughters, Patricia A. Wright and Marie F. Burton.

He is predeceased by his parents, Carl and Lillian Morris; wife Althenia A. Burton; sister, Janet McNeal; daughter, Marie F. Burton; and great-granddaughter Asja D. Wright.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his children: Walter and Patricia, both of Harrisburg, PA. Siblings: Charlotte Tatum, of Harrisburg; Dorothy Davis, of Santa Maria, CA; Carl Morris, Jr. (Rose) and Robert Morris, both of Harrisburg, PA. Grandchildren: Alysia Burton Steele (Bobby), of Oxford, MS; Kendra Wright, Tonyka Thomas-Lugaro (Eduardo), Latasha Thomas, Kymberli Roach (Reginald), Derrick Thomas and Tasha Wright, all of Harrisburg, PA. Also a niece, Robin Williams, who was close to him, of Harrisburg, PA. He leaves a host of loving great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The viewing and visitation for the funeral service will be held at Hooper Memorial Home, located at 3532 Walnut St, Harrisburg, PA on Saturday. May 30, 2015 at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, located at 6701 Jonestown Rd., Harrisburg PA.
