Robert W. Franklin, age 80, of Harrisburg, PA, passed away peacefully June 3, Robert Warner Franklin was the oldest child of four children. He was educated in the Harrisburg School District.
At a young age, Bobby accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Shortly after, the late Reverend Williams baptized him into the fellowship of the Second Baptist Church in Harrisburg, PA. He served in the music ministry as well as doing anything that was asked of him to do. He loved his church and was active until his health would no longer permit. Robert was affectionately known to many as “Hub.” He sang with the group “The Thundering Centuries,” which traveled and sang along the East Coast. Robert was an avid reader and sports fan.
He was a father of three and a grandfather to many. Robert loved his family and was a pillar in the community. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Janive P. and James Gates and beloved daughters, Rochelle “Chelle” Robinson and Salina Franklin. He leaves to mourn his son, Jeffery W. Franklin; three siblings Almeda Gates of St. Louis, MO, James Gates (Valerie), and Anna Marie Collins of Corona, CA; four grandchildren Tia Bostick (who provided her “POP POP” loving care until his death), Toshia Franklin of Bealeton, VA, Tiffany Bostick, and Tanisha Franklin, his great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Robert will be missed by all. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
